This article takes a look around an old Sanyo RD-4055 top loading cassette deck. The mechanical tape transport is really easy to get to in these old top loaders so I created a YouTube video showing how the tape transport works.
I repair a lot of turntables so added a turntable strobe light to the toolbox to check they’re running at the right speed.

A Cambridge Audio ALVA turntable needed to be repaired as it only had audio on one channel. This turntable has a built in phono amplifier along with a Bluetooth transmitter so has a lot of interesting electronics in it.
A faulty Rotel A14MKII needed to be repaired as it was wired up for a 110v mains supply and was connected to a 230v supply. That’s never a good idea as all the transformer output voltages will be double!
A Goldring Lenco GL75 turntable required some repair work to get it working without any hum and mains safety issues.
